INTRODUCTION

If they read Acts 10:48, most Christians don't even know a forgery is there.

Acts 10
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Blame the Felony Forger's Finesse.

Otherwise, it defeats its purpose because all forgeries also include the felony crime of fraud.

Definition of fraud:
noun
1. deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.
2. a particular instance of such deceit or trickery: mail fraud; election frauds.
3. any deception, trickery, or humbug: That diet book is a fraud and a waste of time.
4. a person who makes deceitful pretenses; sham; poseur.

This is the second Felony Forgery against Jesus Christ that I found out by accident, telling us how deceptive the fraud and fraudster can be.

Unsurprisingly, the way this verse is translated in the King James Version causes confusion as to whether or not the word "Lord" refers to Jesus Christ, God, or maybe even both.

I Corinthians 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

One person could be convinced that its the Lord Jesus, but another person believes its the Lord God.

A third person could easily say, "Wait a minute, this can't be right because Jesus taught in Matthew that we are supposed to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost!

They're all just different forms of the same person, so it doesn't make any difference anyways".

That is our spiritual adversary the devil, through a Felony Forgery in the word, sowing discord and every evil work among the brethren out of confusion.

That is why we must destroy confusion every chance we get with the rightly-divided word of God.

Nehemiah 8:8
So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

This is why biblical research is so important: you never know whether or not any given verse in any modern bible version is accurate unless you study it using sound principles of how the bible interprets itself.

II Timothy 2
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker [gangrene]: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

One of the sound principles of biblical research is to examine older biblical manuscripts to see and verify if there is a more accurate translation of the text.

How do the oldest, most authoritative biblical manuscripts render Acts 10:48?

First off, let's see what the Companion Reference Bible by E.W. Bullinger says about this verse.

You can confirm the Companion Bible's statement in the red rectangle above, "the texts read "Jesus Christ"" by checking out the multiple screenshots of the ancient manuscripts of Acts 10:48 yourself.

But just for good measure, I've included the same screenshot below, only this time, its been translated into English [using Google's chrome browser: just right click on the page and choose the translate option].

The revered Nestle-Aland critical Greek text [28th edition] from the famous Institute for New Testament Textual Research in Munster, Germany includes the name of Jesus Christ also.

The textual evidence is overwhelming: the words "Jesus Christ" exist in all the most ancient biblical manuscripts, the New English Translation, plus 6 of the most authoritative critical Greek texts, but not in the kjv [which was printed in 1611], so this has to be a deliberate Felony Forgery of the bible.

Deleting the name of Jesus Christ from Acts 10:48 violates the commandments of God!

Deuteronomy 4:2 [amplified bible]
You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, so that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I am commanding you.

Revelation 22
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Who would blatantly violate the law of God by way of a Felony Forgery in the bible?

Welcome to Bible CSI! [Crime Scene Investigation]

I Timothy 1
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

Look at the definition of "lawless" in verse 9!

screenshot of I Timothy 1:9: definition of lawless.

That makes sense.

The most spiritually lawless people on earth are the spiritual children of the devil.

One of their many different names are haters of the Lord.

Psalms 81:15 [amplified bible]
Those who hate the Lord would pretend obedience to Him and cringe before Him, And their time of punishment would be forever.

If they hate the Lord, then they also automatically hate his word because the bible is the revealed word and will of God.

Thus, being against God's law [his word], they will violate it without remorse.

So whoever forged Acts 10:48 was either a son of the devil or somebody influenced by them.

Acts 13 [amplified bible]
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is how his name is translated) opposed them, trying to turn the proconsul away from accepting the faith.
9 But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit and led by Him, looked steadily at Elymas,
10 and said, "You [Elymas] who are full of every [kind of] deceit, and every [kind of] fraud, you son of the devil, enemy of everything that is right and good, will you never stop perverting the straight paths of the Lord"?

Verse 10 says they "are full of every [kind of] deceit, and every [kind of] fraud".

Every forgery includes the crime of fraud, which is a separate legal charge.

The lawless ones have a total disregard and hatred of God and his word, both written and living.

Jesus Christ is the living word.

Jesus Christ is also the subject of every book of the bible, the written word.

This explains my entire series of articles on Felony Forgeries in the bible that are against Jesus Christ.

This is the spiritual competition we are in.

Jesus Christ has already legally defeated the devil.

May you be victorious as well.

Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Why was the name of Jesus Christ deleted from Acts 10:48?

As we've seen in the previous section, lawlessness and a hatred of all forms of the word are central to the motive of the crime.

But it helps to clarify the issue by identifying the objective and purposes of the forgery.

The objective of this Felony Forgery is to corrupt the word of God.

The purpose is a multi-pronged attack:

1. Cause baptismal confusion in the body of Christ.

2. Sow discord and every evil work among the brethren.

3. Hinder Christian's manifested power of God by deleting the name of Jesus Christ.

4. Cause Christians to wrongly divide God's word.

James 3
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

The deliberate deletion of the name of Jesus Christ in Acts 10:48 is very interesting in light of the following information and bible verses:

The book of Acts is divided up into 8 unique sections.

Acts 10:48 is in the 4th section, which is from Acts 9:32 - 11:21.

Each section ends with a summary and concluding statement.

Acts 11:21
And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

The phrase "hand of the Lord" is a figure of speech called condescensio, where human characteristics are attributed to God for emphasis and is not to be understood as being literal.

The "hand of the Lord" indicates God's power, purposes, protection, prosperity, and wisdom.

If confusion is rampant and the name of Jesus Christ is forgotten, then that will hinder the hand of the Lord in the lives of the believers.

The purposes of this Felony Forgery contradict the summary and concluding statement for the 4th section of the book of Acts.

Here is just a partial list of summarized verses that mention the great works of God that were done in the name of Jesus Christ previous to the forgery:

Acts 8
5 Philip goes to Samaria and preached Christ.
7 Many devil spirits were cast out of people and many were healed in the name of Jesus Christ.

8 And there was great joy in that city.
12 Many believed and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

13 Simon [a former sorcerer] believed and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
17 More devil spirits were cast out of Christians, enabling them to speak in tongues for the first time! [this is how to make Jesus Lord in your life - I Corinthians 12:3].
35 Philip taught the Eunuch about Jesus.

37 The eunuch said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Acts 9
5 Paul encounters Jesus on the way to Damascus
17 Jesus sends Ananias to heal Paul

18 Paul gets healed and is baptized [in the name of Jesus Christ]
20 Paul "preached Christ in the synagogues"

22 Paul "confounded the Jews" by his preaching about Christ
23 Jews took counsel to kill Paul

27 Barnabas recounts how Paul "preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus".
29 Barnabas "spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus"
34 Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole; 2 cities turned to the Lord as a result

40 Peter raises Tabitha from the dead and many believed in the Lord.

Acts 10
36 Peter preached peace by Jesus Christ
38 Peter recounts that Jesus Christ healed all that were oppressed of the devil

Considering all the great things the believers did in the name of Jesus Christ just in the 2 chapters previous to the forgery, its no wonder that Satan had the name of Jesus Christ deleted!

John 15
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Philippians 2
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

The reason that there are no records of anybody in the Old Testament ever having a devil spirit cast out of them is because Jesus Christ and the power in his name was not available yet.

Jesus Christ was the first person to ever cast devil spirits out of people.

I'm quite sure the devil wasn't happy about that!

Just look at the authority and power that the name of Jesus Christ has over the devil and his kingdom!

Ephesians 1
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought [energized] in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

I John 5
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith [believing].
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

The forged version of Acts 10:48 contradicts baptism in this age of grace!

You won't always see something wrong just by looking at a single verse.

It must be compared to all the other verses on the same subject and understood in this context.

Once you do that, the forgery reveals itself.

You can't tell a counterfeit is a counterfeit by only studying the counterfeit.

The counterfeit must be compared to the genuine in order to be distinguished.

All these verses talk about being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, the name of Jesus Christ or in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; never in the name of the Lord alone.

One of the ways that the bible interprets itself is that all the verses on the same subject must be in harmony and agreement with each other.

If a small percentage don't follow this pattern, then you shouldn't build an entire doctrine on the few incongruous verses, but research them more so you can see how they fall into line with the majority because the original word of God never contradicted itself.

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8:12
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Acts 8:16
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Acts 10:48 [corrected version]
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Acts 19:5
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Now Acts 10:48 is in alignment and harmony with all the other verses on the same subject.

Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

According to scripture, we don't call on, pray to, praise, or worship Jesus, but the Lord God almighty, the creator of the heavens and earth.

Based upon the standard baptismal practice that was already established, being baptized in Acts 22:16 was in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and not in water.

Based on the context, the Lord in verse 16 refers to God.

Acts 22
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Its important to realize that verse 16 does not involve water because water, being a physical thing, cannot wash away sins, which is a spiritual problem.

"Wash away thy sins" is figurative in nature and is not intended to be construed to mean literal water.

If God wanted the word "water" in this verse, his word would have said water.

Water baptism can't hold water!

Idiom definition for doesn't hold any water:

"not hold water"
To not be or not appear to be true, verifiable, or able to be supported by facts.

The image is of a container with holes in it—a metaphor for a position or argument containing "holes" (errors or gaps in reasoning).

[example] I'm afraid that excuse just doesn't hold water with me—you still should have had plenty of time to complete the assignment and print it. That old claim has been debunked so many time that it just does not hold water any more".

Acts 10
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

The fact that Peter was asking if they could include water in the baptism tells us that water baptism was no longer the standard practice, indicating a recent change, which is exactly what happened on the day of Pentecost in 28A.D..

Since the forgery removes the name of Jesus Christ, being "baptized in the name of the Lord" is now much more vague and general.

Immediately before this, Peter asks, "Can any man forbid water?"....

So in context, it wouldn't be difficult for someone to construe the meaning of being "baptized in the name of the Lord" to mean or include baptism by water.

And that is probably one of the forger's intended consequences.

Once again, there could be confusion as to whether or not being "baptized in the name of the Lord" includes water or not and the resulting potential conflicts.

As before, all the verses on the same subject must be in agreement.

The water baptism in the gospels was replaced by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ since the day of Pentecost in 28A.D.

Mark 1
7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Since the day of Pentecost in 28A.D., water baptism has been replaced with being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ [as explained in the previous section].

Acts 1:5
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

We must remember that the book of Acts is a book of transition from the old testament law period to the age of grace since the day of Pentecost in 28A.D..

So when Peter asked if any man can forbid water, he was simply in a learning curve, trying to get used to the new standard, but not quite there yet.

Only 18 verses later, Peter remembered the new baptismal doctrine and practice in Acts 11 that went into effect on the day of Pentecost in 28A.D..

Acts 11
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

This is why there are 5 verses in the book of Acts that confirm the new baptismal practice is to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ instead of water.

Here are the corrected verses:

Acts 10
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

This eliminates personal opinions, confusion and strife.

SUMMARY

  1. This is the second Felony Forgery against Jesus Christ in the bible that I found out by accident, telling us how deceptive the fraud and fraudster can be.

  2. All the most ancient and most authoritative biblical manuscripts, regardless of language, have the name of Jesus Christ in the text, so our spiritual adversary [Satan] deliberately removed it

  3. The majority of the critical Greek texts have the words "Jesus Christ" (Iesous Christos in Greek) in this verse

  4. Deleting the name of Jesus Christ from Acts 10:48 is a clear and direct violation of the commandments of the Lord God Almighty!

The forger was a spiritually lawless person, one who had a total disregard for the written and living Word of God and was either a son of the devil or was heavily influenced by one.

  5. The objective of the forgery was to corrupt the bible;
    The purpose is to:
    1) Cause baptismal confusion in the body of Christ;
    2) Sow discord and every evil work among the brethren;
    3) Hinder Christian's manifested power of God by deleting the name of Jesus Christ
    4) Cause Christians to wrongly divide God's word.

  6. This Felony Forgery contradicts the summary and concluding statement for the 4th section of the book of Acts [Acts 11:21].

  7. Considering all the great things the believers did in the name of Jesus Christ just in the 2 chapters previous to the forgery, its no wonder that Satan had the name of Jesus Christ deleted!

  8. The forged version of Acts 10:48 contradicts baptism in this age of grace!

You won't always see something wrong just by looking at a single verse. It must be compared to all the other verses on the same subject and understood in this context. Once you do that, the error of the forgery is revealed.

  9. Water baptism was for the Israelites in the gospel period who were under the law of Moses, but was replaced by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ since the day of Pentecost in 28A.D..

The method of baptism in the forged version of Acts 10:48 is generic enough that it could be construed to mean or include water baptism, which is mentioned by Peter in the previous verse.

  10. Although the King James version is the only bible out of 12 randomly-chosen modern bible versions that completely deleted the name of Jesus Christ, its combined sales of all bibles in 2012 & 2017 places it in the top 3, maximizing the negative impact of the forgery on Christianity and the world.

  11. The final conclusion is that Acts 10:48 contains a known, proven Felony Forgery by deliberately deleting the name above all names: Jesus Christ.
