INTRODUCTION

Exodus 3:14, [especially in combination with John 8:58], is often quoted by many christians as being proof of the trinity.

Once again, when I hear somebody quoting these verses to justify the trinity, I immediately know they haven't done any research at all...

Exodus 3
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

John 8
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Because of the way that the words are capitalized and translated in John 8:58 & Exodus 3:14, people say that this is proof that Jesus is God.

If they only knew...

HOW DO THE ANCIENT BIBLICAL MANUSCRIPTS RENDER EXODUS 3:14?

Let's see what this screenshot of the Armenian bible, translated from the Syriac text of 411A.D. says about Exodus 3:13-16.

Here is a screenshot of the Lamsa bible, translated from the Aramaic Peshitta text in the 5th century:

This is what the Septuagint [the Greek translation of the old testament, ~300A.D - 200A.D.] says of Exodus 3:14:

What is an orthographic felony forgery?

There are at least 2 known, proven forgeries in the bible that deliberately violate the orthographic rules of capitalization in order to prove the trinity with falsified data, which also contradicts I Peter 1:20>>"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private [one's own] interpretation".

These 2 verses are Exodus 3:14 [explained in this article] and the felony forgery of John 10:33.

Like you, I never even heard of orthography before this research project, so don't feel bad!

Definition of Orthography
Orthography
noun, plural orthographies for 3–5.
1. the art of writing words with the proper letters, according to accepted usage; correct spelling.
2. the part of language study concerned with letters and spelling.
3. a method of spelling, as by the use of an alphabet or other system of symbols; spelling.
4. a system of such symbols: Missionaries provided the first orthography for the language.
5. an orthographic projection, or an elevation drawn by means of it.

1425-75; late Middle English ortografye < Latin orthographia correct writing, orthogonal projection < Greek orthographía. See ortho-, -graphy Dictionary.com Unabridged
Based on the Random House Dictionary, © Random House, Inc. 2015.

So it should come as no surprise that this trinitarian Felony Forgery violates something: logic, other bible verses, math, etc and is an example of the lawlessness of the devil, who is called the lawless one in the bible!

This is verified by appendix #48 of the Companion Reference bible that confirms the lack of divine direction in the use of capitalized text in Exodus 3:14 [KJV].

Here is the definition of “I am” in Exodus 3:14 in a Hebrew lexicon:
III. Be (often with subordinate idea of becoming); —
1. exist, be in existence (i.e. originally have come into existence)

[into their lives, since God has been around since the beginning – Genesis 1:1]

E.W. Bullinger, in the companion reference bible says this about Exodus 3:14
“I AM THAT I AM. Hebrew ‘ehyeh ‘ashar ‘ehyeh I will be what I will be (or become)”

This is consistent with the 4 ancient biblical manuscripts we’ve just seen.

That’s a total of 7 objective authorities that are all in agreement: 4 ancient biblical manuscripts plus 3 biblical reference works:

  1. The Armenian bible, translated from the Syriac text of 411A.D.
  2. The Lamsa bible, translated from the Aramaic Peshitta text in the 5th century
  3. The Septuagint [the Greek translation of the old testament, ~300A.D - 200A.D.]
  4. The Hebrew interlinear
  5. Appendix #48 of the Companion Bible
  6. The Companion bible, notes on John 8:58
  7. The Hebrew Lexicon: definition of "I am"

If christians knew what John 8:58 really says, they would never quote it again to prove the trinity...

John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Again, we have to dig deeper than just reading a verse in a modern bible version.

There is no logical connection between John 8:58, which is about Jesus Christ being in God's foreknowledge, and Exodus 3:14, which is about 1 of the many names of God.

I read somewhere that a bible version, by definition, has to be at least 25% different than the text it comes from.

Modern bibles are translations of translations of translations, etc.

A lot is lost in all these translations for many different reasons [not necessarily a complete list]:

  1. Cognates: words descending from the same source, but having different meanings
  2. Etymology: studying the true meanings and values of words>> a chronological account of the birth and development of a particular word or element of a word
  3. Figures of speech: there are well over 200 different figures of speech used in the bible, [some have dozens of variations]. A complete or accurate knowledge of these is rarely applied in scripture translations
  4. Forgeries: deliberate manipulation of scripture in order to make it agree with your own theology
  5. Internal structure: root word, prefixes, suffixes, etc
  6. Languages: translating the words and their meanings from 1 language into another is never exact process, causing errors in translation
  7. Translation: mistakes in translation, caused by a variety of factors, such as the legibility of a word or letter in an old, worn out text
This is why we must verify the ancient biblical manuscripts for a much more accurate translation.

Yet, despite all these factors, with an accurate and complete knowledge of how the bible interprets itself and all the available manuscripts, it's still possible to get back to the original God-breathed word.

Believing in the trinity will spiritually eat you up and increase more ungodliness in your life because ultimately, there is devil spirit power driving the trinity.

II Timothy 2
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker [gangrene]: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

2 critical figures of speech you must know to properly understand John 8:58

The purpose of the Godly figures of speech used in the bible is to emphasize what God wants emphasized, such as a specific word, concept, or section of scripture.

John 8
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

John 8:58 contains the figure of speech called Heterosis [of tenses]: # 6: the present is put for the future, so it literally reads at the end of the verse: “I will be”, not I am.

Once again, this is perfectly consistent with the 4 ancient biblical manuscripts we've just seen.

It's impossible for Jesus to literally have lived before Abraham because abraham was born approximately 2,000 years before Christ [B.C.] who was born on Wednesday September 11, 3BC, according to history, ancient astronomical records and the bible.

Therefore, the only way Jesus "will be" before Abraham is in God’s foreknowledge.

At least 2 verses confirm this:

I Peter 1
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

In I Peter 1:20, look at the definition of "foreordained", which is the same Greek word used in Romans 8:29 translated “foreknow”.

Romans 8:29
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

HELPS Word-studies
4267 proginṓskō (from 4253 /pró, "before" and 1097 /ginṓskō, "to know") – properly, foreknow; used in the NT of "God pre-knowing all choices – and doing so without pre-determining (requiring) them" (G. Archer).

Here are the notes on John 8:58 from E.W. Bullinger's Companion Reference bible, page 31 online:

And here is the note on John 6:35 that the first note referenced:

These 2 figures of speech [heterosis and metaphor] are very accurate in God's word:

* Jesus Christ was in God's foreknowledge
* Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son, represented God on earth.

The definition of metaphor in the companion bible is confirmed by the miriam webster online dictionary:

Definition of metaphor
1 : a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them (as in drowning in money)
broadly : figurative language

Since the entire purpose of the gospel of John is "that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God", no verse in that gospel can be used to confirm the trinity.

These include:
  1. John 1:1
  2. John 1:14
  3. John 3:13
  4. John 6:40-42
  5. John 8:58
  6. John 10:30
  7. John 10:33
  8. John 20:28

John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Why do you suppose that God has told us not once, but twice that no man has seen God?

Its because God knew in his foreknowlege that Satan would promote the trinity long before anybody ever even conceived it to warn us and protect us from it.

SUMMARY

The so-called “evidence” of a trinity is once again, based upon:
  1. Deliberate violation of the grammatical rules of capitalization in order to prove a theology [Lawlessness]

  2. Ignorance of figures of speech [Ignorance]

  3. Ignorance of verses about God's foreknowledg relative to Jesus Christ [Ignorance]

  4. Not checking the ancient biblical manuscripts [Negligence]

  5. Not checking good quality reference works [Negligence]

Here is the legal definition of "negligence" from dictionary.com:

Law. the failure to exercise that degree of care that, in the circumstances, the law requires for the protection of other persons or those interests of other persons that may be injuriously affected by the want of such care.

In other words, it's failure to apply II Timothy 2:15 in our lives.

So the principles of the trinity depend upon:
  1. Lawlessness
  2. Ignorance
  3. Negligence = lazily careless
Not exactly an advertisement for the trinity, you know what I mean?

These 3 things all contradict a multitude of scriptures and sound principles of the Word of God.

Thus, when you research Exodus 3:14 and John 8:58, there is no evidence whatsoever of a trinity.
